The Great Bustard is a countryside Pub and Restaurant in Great Durnford, Wiltshire, just the opposite side of the River Avon to Finch Cottage and a short 20 minute walk through the fields. The locals gather here for a pint, the restaurant has an inventive seasonal menu “local where possible but always the best of the best”, and a shop stocking organic and local produce for sale.

When we are booked up we often recommend other local places stay. West View is one of them. David and Barbara are thrilled to call the charming village of Tilshead home. Now retired from the RAF, David works in a civilian Army role, while Barbara captures the beauty of Wiltshire as a commercial photographer and photography trainer. While they can’t always be there to greet you in person, their self-contained annex, West View, offers a cozy retreat and a perfect base for exploring Stonehenge and the surrounding area.

One of our few 'go-to' restaurants for brunch on a Saturday after walking around the market, Cosy Club Salisbury is housed in a beautiful Grade II listed former arts college, tucked in the heart of the city centre on New Street, just a short stroll from the magnificent Salisbury Cathedral. Never had a bad meal here.

Jane works from her studio in south Wiltshire, where she creates wheel-thrown ceramics that hold a sense of calm, texture, and natural rhythm. Her work is inspired by the pared-back elegance of Japanese and Scandinavian minimalism, where simplicity becomes an art form and the hand of the maker is honoured in every curve.
