COSE DA FARE

POSTI DOVE ANDARE

The Bridge Inn, Upper Woodford

A family-run country pub serving home-cooked traditional meals made by their talented chefs using locally sourced produce. Located in the picturesque Woodford Valley, just 1.3 miles from Finch Cottage, you can either take a 3 minute drive or a 20 minute walk to build up your appetite. Welcoming wanderers, wheelers and woofers, they have plenty of outdoor seating in their garden alongside the River Avon, and a lovely wood-burner within for when the weather grows colder.

Piazza, Amesbury

In their own words, Piazza Restaurant in Amesbury offers, “Beautifully authentic, Italian cuisine.” Piazza food has been consistently good for years and is a great location for kids.

Siam Smile, Amesbury

If you’re looking for genuine, home-cooked, tasty Thai street food, Siam Smile is the place to go. Offering both lunch and dinner sittings (except Sundays and Mondays), Joy, the owner, has been serving the Amesbury community for over 10 years.

Taste, Amesbury

If you fancy a quick bite for breakfast or lunch during the day, Taste is a lovely, friendly cafe in the heart of Amesbury. Run by Matt and Paul, they offer a fresh, made to order breakfast menu and a range of toasties, soup and cakes, along with great coffee and a range of teas.

The Great Bustard, Great Durnford

Renovated to a very high standard in 2024, The “Bustard” offers both a traditional pub environment and a restaurant with an inventive seasonal menu. Their philosophy, “Local where possible but always the best of the best”. Due to it’s location on the other side of the River Avon, you can either take a 6 minute drive or a 15 minute walk.

The New Inn, Amesbury

Recently reopened under new ownership and lovingly restored by new landlords, Nathan and Kirsty, the New Inn offers a warm, welcoming, traditional environment with reasonably priced, good-quality lunch and dinner offerings.

Amesbury Tandoori, Amesbury

Originally founded in 1988, Amesbury Tandoori is our preferred Indian restaurant in Amesbury. The Chef’s Specials are particularly good, with the Goan Chicken Curry being one of Eddie’s favourites!

The Wheatsheaf, Lower Woodford

Part of the Hall & Woodhouse family of pubs, the Wheatsheaf is located in Lower Woodford, just a 6-minute drive from Finch Cottage. A cosy pub full of traditional charm and also the filming location for our evening meal when we appeared on Four in a Bed!

The George Hotel, Amesbury

The George is an historic 16th Century coaching inn that went through an extensive nine-month refurbishment back in 2023. They offer a chef-driven brunch, lunch and dinner menu which changes with the seasons, inspired by modern, British food.

A Date with Thyme, Amesbury

Offering a great variety of home-made breakfast, lunch and afternoon teas, Maria and Matt have made a Date with Thyme a great ‘go-to’ spot in the heart of Amesbury. Unless you’re in the area we recommend calling ahead as they are extremely popular and are often booked up.
